Cava

Castellblanch was founded in 1908 on the chalky slopes of the Middle Penedes, neatly nestled between the Montserrat Mountains providing protection from the harsh northerly winds and the Mediterranean to the south. These conditions are perfect for the cultivation of the three grape varieties -Parellada, Macabeo and Xarel-lo – used to produce Cava.

Grape: 100% Albariño. This is an Albariño of classic structure. To highlight the aromatic elegance of this wine that develops and grows gracefully in the bottle for several months. It is involving and full on the palate, where it leaves a sensation of ripe fruit (apples and peaches), giving way to other flavours reminiscent of herbs.

Prado Rey Crianza 2006 – (Ribera del Duero)

Grape: Tinta Fina, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot. This wine show ripe red fruit and floral aromas with hints of vanilla. The tannins are smooth. The oak influence is perfectly balanced with the fruit. The finish is smooth and persistent.

Grape: 100% Tempranillo. Bodegas Altun is the result of the dedication of 5 generations to wine production, and they are on of the pioneers of the New Spanish Wave. Intense nose, tobacco and black pepper. Full bodied, elegant, well integrated oaky flavours with a long finish.

Peñon De Ifach Reserva 2005/06 – (Alicante)

Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Merlot. Bright ruby color. There is a pronounced intensity of ripe fruit with subtle notes of vanilla. On the palate, this is a meaty wine with great structure, tannins and intensity. The oak influence is still present on the lingering finish. This wine has not been micro filtered to preserve as much of the fruit character as possible.

Coma Vella 2006 – (Priorat)

Grape: Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cariñena and Syrah. Cherry colour and wine ruby rim. Fresh aromas of ripe fruit (ripe plums and figs) on a balsamic background with fort notes of smoke. In the mouth it has a balanced and vivid entry. The finish is long with lingering notes of spice (black pepper and liquorice).
